Getting covered under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) is easier than you might think. Here’s how to do it:

Before you start, have this ready:

  • Your ZIP code
  • Household size and income
  • Social Security numbers or immigration documents
  • Current health coverage info (if any)
  • Employer coverage offer (if applicable)

You can preview plans and estimated costs before applying:

  • Visit HealthCare.gov, HealthSherpa or your state’s Marketplace (if applicable)
  • Enter your ZIP code, income, and household details
  • See available plans, monthly premiums, deductibles, and out-of-pocket costs
  • Check if you qualify for premium tax credits or cost-sharing reductions

Tip: Look for Silver plans if you qualify for extra savings.

When comparing plans, consider:
